An Indianapolis girl and her firm unveiled options for a boutique lodge designed of delivery containers she’s preparing to open up in the Haughville community this summertime.

Robin Staten-Lanier, a new hotelier, is the proprietor of Tiny Urban Escapes, a hidden micro resort that would comprise of 4 semi-glass personal luxury suites and private occasion space — all converted from upcycled-shipping and delivery containers.

The resort will be found at 2214 W. Michigan St. around the Indianapolis General public Library Haughville branch. Little City Escapes is a Black-owned, feminine-led business.

“This goes past hospitality,” she explained. “The intent is to change communities, but also to use this house, pretty much as an igniter of supplemental economic enhancement in this community.”

This architectural design photo shows the Bold suite, one of four shipping container suites that will be at the Tiny Urban Escapes boutique hotel in Haughville.

Design is tentatively predicted to be done in the summer time. Twenty-foot shipping containers will be converted into suites though the occasion room — called “The Scene” — will be built from a much larger 40-foot shipping and delivery container. Each individual suite will have obtain to wellness and culinary experiences and on-demand concierge service.

Reclaiming shipping containers and transforming them into personalized modular building projects has been a development for some time. The containers are deemed cost-effective, resilient and eco-welcoming design materials.
