SOUTHAVEN, Miss. – Police are searching for a male who was sporting a bathrobe when he stole a 7-carat diamond ring from a Southaven jewellery store Friday afternoon.

Staff at Robert Irwin Jewelers on Goodman Street stated they were uneasy when the customer entered the retail store wearing the robe and carrying a fanny pack beneath his arm.

“It was the way he was carrying the factor. I just felt like there was a gun in it,” explained Ora Allen, a saleswoman at the store.

Allen said a different saleswoman commenced helping the person when he told them he wished to see a ring he experienced been looking at the day just before.

“He stored expressing ‘no, that’s not it’,” Allen mentioned. “He was with her a good 10 minutes, you know, searching at things.”

She said the other saleswoman began secretly signaling that anything wasn’t appropriate, and that’s when she arrived at for the store’s silent alarm.

“I was helping someone up here, so I just laid it down beside me,” she stated.

Allen said the supervisor remembered viewing the man in the retail outlet a working day before and was also striving to aid when the man snatched the $14,000 ring out of her hand and remaining the retail store.

“She was keeping it in the situation when he claimed which is not the one particular, and she pulled it out,” Allen reported. “She was striving to demonstrate him the cost tag, and he just grabbed it and ran.”

Surveillance cameras at the jewelry shop captured images of the suspect when he came in the very first time and when he showed up in the bathrobe.
