The Dropout crew clarifies why Amanda Seyfried’s make-up as Elizabeth Holmes is deliberately awful

The Dropout makeup team has stated why Amanda Seyfried’s makeup as Elizabeth Holmes is intentionally dreadful in the sequence.

Hulu’s new drama – which premiered on 3 March – stars Seyfried as Holmes, the biotechnology entrepreneur who was located responsible in January 2022 of wire fraud and conspiracy to dedicate wire fraud by misleading traders.

In the collection, Seyfried’s Holmes is typically revealed wearing messy make-up.

In a recent interview with Vainness Good, the show’s head of make-up, Jorjee Douglas, discussed why the scruffy glance was deliberate.

Douglas claimed that Holmes’s 20-hour workdays would have still left her no time or desire for aesthetic self-treatment.

“There ended up factors in which she was actually at a breaking issue of attempting to offer her [company to investors],” she claimed.

Douglas additional: “[Holmes] was employing her makeup as a weapon pretty much – using this extremely stereotypically hot purple lipstick, black-rimmed eyes type of factor.”

In buy to successfully mimic Holmes’s search, Douglas explained that her study incorporated analyzing serious-life photos of the disgraced entrepreneur and learning “all of the unique shades of purple that she wore” and “all her unmatched colours of foundation”.
