Corporate Baby Gifts – How to Choose the Perfect Gift for an Employee or Customer

At some point, almost every business will need to purchase a baby gift to send to a new parent. Perhaps it’s a loyal customer that you want to show your appreciation to, perhaps a new customer that you are building rapport with, or perhaps an employee who you’d like to celebrate with. Whatever the reason, finding the perfect baby gift can build great relationships and form a lasting impression.

When my son was born, my husband was the vice president of a small construction company. One of their major vendors brought us a gift card for a local baby store. We were very appreciative that they thought of us, and now even 7 years later I can still remember receiving it. Now that’s staying power.

I generally do not recommend gift cards as baby gifts from businesses. There are several reasons why. The main one, is that a gift card does not show that much effort at all was put into the gift. It doesn’t even show that the company has taken the time to find out if the baby is a boy or girl. Another important factor is price. In general, you can find a very nice gift for much less than most people will end up spending on a gift card. A gift card has no “wow” factor, and the recipient will know exactly how much you spent on the gift.

So, how much should you spend on a baby gift for a customer or employee? There are no hard set rules or general etiquette rules for appropriate amounts. We, however generally recommend a 10% rule, with a minimum of $30. If the person you are purchasing for is an employee, take a look at their weekly salary. Whatever that salary is, plan to spend about 10% of that on their baby gift. That means if they make $400 a week, you would plan to spend about $40. If they make $1000 a week, plan for about $100. If they make $300 or less, plan to spend about $30 as you will find it hard to find a nice gift for less than $20-30. If you are purchasing for a customer, follow a similar rule, but look at approximately how much money their company spends with you on a typical week (if they don’t purchase weekly, average out what they do spend to get a weekly rate). You can then use 10% of the typical purchase amount.

Once you have your budget figured out, you are ready to start considering gift ideas. Try to find out as much about the new baby as you can. Is it a boy or a girl? Has the baby be named? What is his/her name? What was the birth date? Having this information will allow you to find a gift that will be extra special for the family.

When choosing a corporate baby gift, you’ll want to look for a few things. First of all, it should be something the family can …

Wholesale Infant Gifts: Types of Baby Bib Gift Sets

There are already so many concerns that new, and even veteran parents have when it comes to having children. Though one might not think of baby bib gift sets as a huge concern, they are very important and have many different options available to pick from. This article will ease at least some stress for parents by comparing and contrasting the four main types of baby bib gift sets that are available.

The Traditional Bandana Bibs

When one thinks of baby bib gift sets, these are probably the first ones that come to mind because they are the most popular. There are many different styles that match many different baby outfits. On the underside, they have a thin layer of fleece that makes them comfortable and they also have a water resistant backing that makes them practical and tremendously absorbent. They are easy to afford and carry around because they are usually a soft fabric that's easy to fold. Bandana Bibs often come in multi-packs because of the one main drawback; They stain very easily. Bright colors and designs often conceal these stains, but it will still be clear that the bibs are used often.

Throwaway Bibs

Bibs that also come in multi-packs (usually 30 or so) are throwaway bibs, also known as disposable bibs. These bibs have simpler designs than bandana bibs because they are usually made of a fabric called strengthened paper. This does however give them an additional purpose because they can be used as a towel to clean up any surrounding messes the baby might leave after eating. They are ideal for holidays and emergencies because of the easy clean up and accessibility. There is only one main downside, depending on the manufacturer and how often they are used; they can get expensive.

Cover-All Bibs

Another slightly more expensive type of bib is the cover-all bib. These are typically used for toddlers and made of a plastic-coated material, which can sometimes be uncomfortable for the child. While these can be used for messy activities other than eating, some kids may feel uncomfortable being covered from head to toe. However if there isn't much protest from the child, they have many different designs like the bandana bib and are easy to thoroughly clean like the throwaway bib.

Plastic Scoop Bibs

Similar to the cover-all bibs this form is obviously also made of plastic. The difference is their design is more like bandana bibs with a 'catch' tray attached to the bottom. The greatest advantage to these toddler aprons is that they can be used in the dishwasher. They are also great for children who are learning to eat by themselves. Parents must be careful for those troublemaker children though because some kids often like to just pour their food into the tray. Since plastic tends to be a little stiffer than the other soft fabric bibs, this type of bib may be a little uncomfortable as well.

Parents should consider their price range, their child's personality, and …

A love of reading leads to a love of learning, and with learning they can achieve anything. Choose a great book themed around trucks, bikes or animals.
  10. By far my favorite gift for a baby boys baby shower is a gift basket. Why do I love gift baskets so much, because you can put as much or as little as you like in them. Think a basket filled with the baby shoosher, boy sock booties, nappy cream, wipes, a special moisturizer for mum, a few boy books, baby wraps, a height chart. I know this is getting expensive but it is for mum and dad too and you would be amazed how much those little practical gifts really help out.

Online Shopping Tips: Shop Baby Boutiques Online and Save Your Time, Nerves and Money

These days, we shop online for just about everything. This includes boutique girls clothing, diapers, formulay, gifts and anything else we might need or wont. But until now we haven't given much thought about the reasons why we enjoy the online shopping experience. Sure there are the obvious reasons of not having to get dressed, packing into the car and dedicating the few hours needed to search through your baby's favorite stores. Now, if you are with your child trying to accomplish the above-mentioned, you may need to call ahead to have your hubby ready a hot bath with a glass (or bottle) of wine. And if your hubby was nice enough to take the kids off your hands for a few hours so you could go shopping; wouldn't you want to take that time and shop for yourself instead? Sure you would! So here are some reasons why shopping for baby clothes online is such a great idea:

  1. Stay at home – Don't battle the parking gods or wait in line for something. Simply relax and let your mouse do the walking. There are hundreds of websites that sell clothes and baby accessories. Each one is only a click away. They are never closed nor are they ever rude. And if you have any questions, shoot them an email or call and have all your questions answered right there and then!
  2. Browse the largest and best selections – How many stores would one have to visit in order to look through enough baby outfits, sweaters, blankets, socks, hats, bottoms, sleep sacs and more in order to get that perfect catch? And how long would it take? Online, you get access to hundreds of retailers. That's like visiting a mall dedicated to all of your baby and toddler clothing needs!
  3. Get the best prices – This one is our favorite. So you stayed home and found something you like – great! Most websites offer free shipping so you have an opportunity to save a few bucks there. Often there is a special 1st-time customer discount. There are even sites out there who have returning customer discounts. Then there is that magical promo code field. Most people overlook this feature. However, if you have a few minutes to do a quick search, you could save additional dough. All you need to do is search for the site name and the words "promo code" or "discount coupon" right behind it. Before you know it you are patting yourself on the back and marveling at the huge chunk of change you just saved! Oh, we almost forgot to mention that you don't have to pay sales tax if purchasing from out-of-state. And if you are wondering, yes, we are always running cool promotions.
  4. Freedom to change your mind – So, the handsome UPS man arrives at your door and drops off a small box. "Yayyyyy!" you scream only to find that the size of the cutest baby clothes you picked doesn't fit your

Spring and Summer Are Baby Gift Basket Months

Baby gift basket trends: With 14 years experience in the gift basket industry, I have observed many interesting trends. One of the most interesting is the sale of baby gift baskets throughout the year.

Although the average price spent on baby gift baskets fluctuates based on the economy, (in 2007 the average money spent on a baby gift basket was $ 150, in 2009 the average purchase has dropped to around $ 120), one thing remains the same. There is a clear increase in purchases of baby gift baskets during the early summer to early fall. Now the reasons for this could be many, but, we have come up with our own fun and interesting conclusions:

– In this age of go, go, go, perhaps baby deliveries are planned for this time of year, as everyone's schedule seems to slow down more. In many industries, the summer months tend to be slower, (although garden shops, camping and boat shops would disagree!) Having a baby during these slower times decreases the burden on the employer and eliminates the stress and guilt on the employee who requires time off.

– Having maternity leave during the summer months is preferable as you are able to do more with the baby. Who wants to bundle a colicky baby up for a walk in two feet of snow ?! It is so much nicer to put on the sunglasses, grab a good book, walk your baby to sleep and find a nice shady tree under which you can sit, be it to read or to slumber along with your little cherub.

Our most tongue in cheek conclusion:

– It is just so cold during the winter that there is not a lot to do … so why not make a baby!

This is our favorite (and secretly our most believed) reason. I won't go into details, but if you've ever experienced a Canadian winter, I'm sure you know what I mean!

Regardless of the reason couples decide to have their babies birthed during the early summer to early fall season every year, we have learned to be prepared! We design several new gift baskets every year in anticipation of the flood of orders that always comes. Having themed gift baskets for girl babies, boy babies and neutral (in case customers are unsure of the baby's sex) is important too. Our staff always looks forward to designing these sweet, frilly baskets that are filled with oh so soft items and smell of baby talc.

Now, how to get parents to have more babies … hmm … I guess I'll save that for another article!

Thinking Outside The Baby Shower Gift Box

Baby Showers are thrown to "shower gifts" upon the mother to be. Adding a baby to the family requires adding a lot of new inventory to the medicine cabinet and food pantry. It also means you have to fill dresser drawers and changing tables with the many supplies that will be used in the care of the new baby.

The new baby will likely receive all sorts of baby bottles and tiny little one piece outfits with cute pictures on them. There will be bottle upon bottle of lotions and soaps to keep the new arrival smelling fresh and sweet. Then there will be the tiny socks in the soft pastel colors to make those little baby feet nice and warm.

Stop just for a moment, if you will, and think about mom. While I am sure that mom will be 100% grateful for all of the above-mentioned shower gifts, these gifts are technically for the baby and not for mom. It is time to think outside of the baby shower box and remember mom.

Mom's bath time will now be cut by 80% (note: not a scientifically proven number) with the new addition so how about helping her enjoy that little time she does have by giving her a bath set of her own. She would love to have some bath salts and oils for the tub. When she gets out of the tub she would relish being able to enjoy some fresh body lotion that was in her favorite scent. Oh, that most comfortable feeling she could have being wrapped in a plush soft new bath towel after her relaxing bath.

Adult only time will be a precious commodity that will have a 97.8% reduction after the arrival of the new baby (note: once again not a scientifically proven number). You could be the one that helps the new mom enjoy this time the most by giving her a gift of a new set of wine glasses or cocktail glasses.

Kitchen help would also be a wonderful gift for the new mom. More than likely the time mom has to spend in the kitchen will not be reduced. In fact, there is a good chance that mom will have to spend and even greater amount of time in the kitchen. Why don't you be the one to help her here? There are many outstanding baby shower gifts that could make kitchen time a breeze. A well-made cutlery set could save mom time and energy. There are a plethora of small kitchen appliances that can make mom's life easier. Coffee makers, food processors, blenders, kitchen tool sets. The ideas are almost limitless

I have supplied you with some unscientific numbers just to prove another fact that very well may be scientifically backed up. 1000% is the increase in enjoyment that the new mom will get from baby shower gifts that are for her to enjoy in her new, limited mommy time. I don't want you to forget about getting …

Inexpensive Baby Gifts for Coworkers and Acquaintances
