The Meaning Behind Traditional Wedding Dresses

In every traditional wedding, it is the bride that is the center of attraction. More often than not, the duty of the bridegroom is to show up with ring in hand and in some countries, foot the bill for the wedding ceremony. Everything else, every particular detail is left for the bride to decide.

Whether women agree with me or not, the planning of a wedding is something a bride looks forward to. As a species, it is a celebration of our continuity as a race. The details for planning a wedding are very specific. Brides get to choose from the theme and color, the menu, the floral setting for the tables, the church, the reception, the dresses for the bridesmaid and entourage and the most important item of all: the wedding dress.

The history of the wedding dress has many roots. The color white symbolized the purity of the bride before her wedding day, and traditionally meant that the bride was untouched for her husband. The veil represented the mystery of the features of the bride on her wedding day. There was a time when marriages were arranged in order to consolidate power, wealth or land between two families and it was only during the wedding itself that the bridegroom was able to see the bride. Through the centuries things have changed and now the veil which used to be thick and concealing is now thin and revealing. The whole process of the bridegroom lifting the veil and seeing the bride is a throwback of the old ways when the bridegroom saw his bride for the first time.

The train and dress of the bride have significant meanings as well. The bridal train was meant to be long and flowing and initially used to cover up the tracks of the bride and the bridegroom, especially during the middle centuries when kidnappings of brides were frequent for ransom purposes. Even the best man had a role in those days as if there was an attack during the wedding procession of a rival tribe, it was the duty of the best man to guard the couple an aid them in escaping such an incident.

If you are in the Bridgend area, there are lots of wedding dress shops for a bride to shop around. These wedding dress shops in Bridgend still have the homey feel of wedding dress shops. The bride and her entourage which may consist of her mom and the maid of honor to say the least can spend an afternoon talking to the owner of the wedding dress shop who may be the wedding dress maker herself to talk about the wedding design the bride needs . These wedding shops in Bridgend make the bride and her family feels like their own family.

I Want To Buy My Spouse A Gift To Show I'm Sorry For Cheating – What's Best?

I sometimes hear from spouses who want to offer some sort of gift to indicate how sorry they are for cheating or for having an affair. And yet, everything that they consider seems wrong. They want to get the perfect object that shows their sincerity in moving forward. But they aren't sure what is appropriate.

I heard from a husband who said: "I cheated on my wife and she found out. Honestly, I was considering leaving my wife and being with the other woman. But once my wife found out and I saw the pain that my actions caused her , I changed my mind. Seeing her so vulnerable made me remember the woman I first fell in love with and I decided that I owed it to both of us to try to save our marriage. Much to my shock, she agreed to give me that chance. The fact that she is willing to take another chance on me humbles me. I want to get her something to show her how grateful I am. I asked one of her best friends what she might like and the friend told me that I am treading on thin ground because my wife is going to read too much into anything that I might chose. Is she right? I don't know what to do at this point. "

What Your Spouse Really Wants: While I think it's touching when a spouse wants to show their love for the other, I agreed with the friend that the wrong choice could make the situation worse. I need to be honest right now. As a spouse who has been cheated on, I can tell you that what your spouse wants isn't jewelry or one more trinket. What your spouse really wants is to have their marriage back. They want to feel like they can trust you again. They want reassurance that you still desire them and that you won't cheat again. They want to feel your genuine affection. They want for you to do whatever you need to do in order to help them heal or to recover from this. Frankly, these things would be more meaningful than any trinket could even be.

Make Sure That Any Gift Shows Your Spouse How Much You Understand And Appreciate Them: I do understand and respect that you want to make a gesture to show your spouse how important they are to you and how committed you are moving forward. In that case, you need to give this serious consideration. You don't want to send the wrong idea. You don't want to just give them a "guilt gift" that you didn't think very deeply about. Many men will think that they will be covered if they just buy their wife expensive jewelry. I suppose this works for some women, but many wives will assume that you think that you can just buy your way out of this and that is not the message that you want to send. …

1940's Women's Fashion Inventions

1940's Women's fashion was a time of great restrictions on design, fabric, and trim materials. The war forced clothing designs to be simple yet it also forced manufactures to be creative with what they could use and invent new materials. The 1940's brought about new women's fashion inventions many of which are still around today.

  1. The girdle. Prior to the 1940's a women's shape was made by metal boned corsets. In the 1940's the girdle was invented as a form of tummy tuck underwear. It shaped just the middle down to the hips and created the smooth hourglass silhouette associated with vintage fashions. The girdle was uncomfortable and was eventually replaced by nylons or no shaping undergarment at all. Today the girdle returns with body shapers, control top stockings, control top underwear and other suck and smooth foundation garments. They name may have changed but these garments are just updated girdles in disguise.
  2. Wedge shoes. Leather and wood was needed for the war so shoe designs had to get creative. The solution was cork. A cork sole was used for shoe heels and then wrapped in a pretty fabric, mesh or even reptile skin. It was economical and allowed a taller heel then what was considered a safe heeled pump. Today wedgies come in and out of fashion, particularly in summer, when wedge sandals hit the beaches.
  3. Rayon . If you didn't know, Rayon is a synthetic fabric. It was invented and became very popular in the 1940's. Up till then wool, silk, and cotton was what clothing was made of. Silk and cotton were needed for the war so Rayon was used instead. It could be lightweight like silk or heavy like wool. Today rayon is still used in fine fabrics, especially in summer.
  4. Nylons . Prior to the 40's women's stockings were made of silk. They were very delicate and needed frequent mending and hand washing. Dupont then invented nylon and thus "Nylons" became a brand name for stockings. Today nylon is still used to make all kinds of hosiery and fabrics.
  5. The Zipper. Thanks to new inventions of the 1940's women can zip up clothing instead of using buttons, snaps or lacing.
  6. Plastic. Although various forms of plastic had been around since the 1920's it was not until the 1940's that they really took center stage in the fashion world. Jewelry was made of Bakelite plastic in big colorful designs. Handbags, makeup case, and household items were being made of Lucite. You may not recognize these plastic names but I am sure you are aware that plastic is everywhere in fashion- from cute barrettes to zippers to purse handles.
  7. Shoulder pads. You may think that the 1980's were the first decade to use shoulder bags. They actually go back much farther than the 1940's but as a regular fashion accessory for women the 1940's were the first. They used shoulder pads in dresses, jackets, and blouses in order to square off the shoulder for a boxy military

How to Coupon While Taking Down a Full-Time Job and Family

How to Coupon

When you first learn how to coupon, you may feel overwhelmed. How can I find time to learn? When am I going to clip and organize all those coupons? Is it worth the time and effort? Working a full-time job can add even more doubts and additional stress.

Once you have the tools and knowledge of how to coupon, the time it takes to put into couponing is well worth the effort. You will be able to run in and out of a grocery store in no time flat with a cart full of groceries, saving 50% or more! You can have a pantry full of stocked food and products. You will never pay out of pocket for toothpaste, floss, condiments, shampoos, soaps and more! Couponing will change the way you shop!

Working full-time will give you some advantages but also a few disadvantages, but there are ways around those. You might have to work a little bit harder but isn't it worth saving your family $ 200- $ 400 per month or more? Not everyone is an extreme couponer and no one really has 40hrs a week to devote to just couponing. I'm going to show you some short cuts to save you time and money. Most important, I want you to understand that couponing does not have to control your life.

Getting started, couponing is very frustrating. Start out by learning slowly. On my first shopping trip, I only saved 15% of my total bill. That was because I only had a few coupons to start out with. I was truly disappointed, but I did not give up. I was expecting huge savings like on the show. As I started couponing more and more each week, I started to understand that I couldn't save exactly like those on Extreme Couponing because I had to purchase milk, eggs, bread, produce and meat. If you watch the show carefully, you will notice they are only buying 20 items of the same product. If you had 20 coupons and you only bought 20 items of the same product, you're going produce 90% or more in savings. They also speed up the checkout process and don't show you exactly what coupons they are using. The show also does not reveal to you where they found high-dollar coupons. You just can't find or get coupons for $ 4.00 off one product. Once you are past the point that Extreme Couponing is just a show, you will come to understand what true coupon saving is all about.

I coupon on certain days of the week, Saturday is when I buy my 2 papers and Sunday is the day I organize coupons and clip. This takes probably an hour to two on my Sunday. My husband watches my son for me while I do this. If my husband is not home I do this during nap time or when he's watching a movie. This particular day helps prepare me for next week's …

The Anxious Worrying Personality Style

Anxious worrying is one of several personality styles identified as a risk factor to developing a depressive disorder. The other personality styles, which have been described in previous articles are:

– Irritable
– Perfectionist
– Social avoidant
– Personal reserve
– Self-critical
– Self-focused
– Sensitivity to rejection.

Not all of them are considered to be risk factors for depression.

People with high levels of anxious worrying in their personality style are more likely to have a parent who suffers from anxiety, more likely to have demonstrated traits of behavior in inhibition and school refusal as a youngster, more likely to have DSM-IV Cluster C personality traits (such as rejection sensitivity, irritability and self-criticism) and score highly on measures of neuroticism, trait anxiety and worrying. In comparison to other presentations of non-melancholic depression, they are more likely to have developed the depressive disorder at an earlier age and suffer more frequent and lengthier depressive episodes. We suggest a strong genetic component to the anxious worrying personality style which, together with the irritable style, is underpinned by a temperament characterized by high levels of autonomic arousal. Such characteristics increase the risk to depression and, when challenged by a life stressor, amplify those anxiety features and shape the phenotypic picture of 'anxious depression'. People who have this type of personality style are more likely to report that they have 'always been a worrier'. They may be able to relate several incidents in their lives where periods of unchecked worry dominated their thinking for days on end. Anxious worriers are possibly more likely to report somatic symptoms such as muscle tension, headaches and gastrointestinal problems. Over time, they possibly would have developed a number of strategies to help them cope with their high levels of anxiety, some of which may only be effective in the short-term. Some people with predominant features of this personality style may actively seek reassurance while others may withdraw from their friends and family members and stew over their problems.

On interview, anxious worriers are more likely to report:

– That they have 'Always been a worrier'
– Several periods in their lives where they have worried or stewed over problems for hours or days at a time
– Somatic symptoms of anxiety such as muscle tension, headaches and gastrointestinal problems
– Possible history of prior strategies to help curb their anxiety and worries.

Cognitive and Behavioral Characteristics of the Anxious Worrier

The key feature of this personality style is the cognitive aspect of long-standing worry which worsens when depressed. Worry may focus on any aspect of their lifestyle or on current problems. Many with this personality style will describe periods of hours or days of worry. Underpinning these worries is usually a set of dysfunctional cognitive structures which serve to drive the content of their current concerns. Some of these dysfunctional cognitive schemas are:

– The world is a dangerous and unpredictable place
– No matter how hard I plan, things always go wrong
– It's a disaster …

What Type of Pictures Do Model Agencies Want?

If you are truly passionate about modeling and want to impress a modeling agency, the best way to do it is undoubted to submit the best photos. We reveal some important advice on photos model agencies are looking out for and some guidelines for you to follow.

Simplicity is not dullness

Contrary to what may be your instinctive idea, model agencies are not looking out for extraordinary photos or fancy clothes! This may actually work against you. Firstly, the agency might think you are an inflexible person who is only interested in a particular style of fashion and modeling. They may also perceive your effort as arrogance. Agencies are looking for fresh material they can mold and most importantly a humble person they can cooperate and work with. No agency wants to sign someone who they feel might be difficult to work in harmony with.

Therefore, always submit photos with simple clothes and minimal makeup. Solid, dark colors such as maroon and blue would prevent too much distraction and focus the attention on you, your body and facial features more in the photograph.

Avoid distraction

Avoid too much clutter and photo noise in the background. Your background should be as simple as it can be. Remember that model agencies are looking out for YOU and not anyone else, so only you should be in your photographs, and if all else fails, find a simple white wall, and use it as your background.

No edits

Modeling agencies are filled with staff and personnel who are photoshop gurus because of the nature of the industry. They will spot your edit on a photo from miles away. So don't try your luck with Photoshop or any other software. No editing should be necessary for you to look good on a photo in any case. Moreover, if you do edit and get called for an interview, imagine the disappointment that you will be giving the agency on your first day itself. The best way is to go natural and be known for your authentic look and confident personality. A credible agency will have the creative brains to imagine you with the makeup and clothes of varying degrees and complexities without you physically wearing them.

Social media

If you are truly interested in modeling and want to dedicate your life to it, how you post on social media matters a lot too. Model agencies are usually online and digitally savvy to keep their agency relevant with the times. They are likely to do some background research on you if they are interested in you. That said; Don't be posting studio quality shots or photos online. Model agencies don't want you to be portraying your social life like a professional job network. Post casual photographs and selfies that show that you can look good without putting in too much effort. Show that you know how to have a good time and have a vibrant personality.

So there you have it, the top qualities in photographs agencies …
