Attire For an 8pm Wedding

Evening weddings are the most elegant type. Whether you are the bride, the groom, or a guest, you will want to look your sharpest for the occasion. This is what you need to know to select appropriate attire for an 8pm wedding.

A wedding that starts at 8pm is almost always going to be formal. At the minimum black tie (or the ambiguous "black tie optional"), or if it is a winter wedding, it may even be white tie, which is the most formal wedding of all. It is up to the bride and groom to determine how formal they want their wedding to be and then to let their guests know with a notation on the invitation stating either "Black tie" or "White tie". If you are having a city chic cocktail wedding which has a late start, you could use a notation such as "Cocktail attire" to give your guests an idea of what to expect and how to dress.

If the 8pm wedding is black tie, the gentlemen all wear tuxedos. For those who want a more modern take on black tie attire, a straight tie can be worn instead of the traditional bow tie. Around the holidays, it would also be appropriate for the male guests (or the groom, for that matter) to wear a bow tie in a tartan rather than the standard black bow tie. The rest of the tuxedo would remain the same as usual.

The bride at a black tie wedding should wear a very fancy wedding gown and lots of sparkling accessories. This would be an appropriate type of wedding for a heavily embellished silk satin gown with a full ballskirt and a long train. There is very little which would be too ornate for such a wedding. She will want to fully accessorize her bridal gown with a crystal tiara, and a breathtaking set of Swarovski crystal bridal jewelry including a necklace, earrings, and bracelets.

Dressing for an 8pm wedding is actually the most challenging for the wedding guests. The attire for the bride and groom is a little more clear; for the female wedding guests, there is such a range of choices that picking the right attire can be bewildering. Hopefully, the invitation gave you a clue as to what type of attire is expected, but if not, you have to take your cue from the late hour of the affair and assume that it is formal. When in doubt, there is no shame in asking the bride or her mother if the wedding will be black tie, white tie, or what have you. Here is a tip: if the invitation or your hosts say that the wedding is black tie optional or black tie requested, wear black tie. It will always look the best for the occasion.

For the female wedding guests, long dresses or very dressy cocktail dresses are appropriate for an 8pm wedding, as long as it is not white tie. If you opt for a …

Origins and Functions of Clothing

Clothing is a garment made from various kinds of materials and taking several forms used by men and women to cover their body. These garments maybe made from woven materials (silk, polyester), animal skin (leather and fur) or from synthetic materials (spandex). Some of the pieces of clothing commonly worn are slacks, jeans, skirts, shorts, shirts, blouses, vests, coats.

Origins of clothing
Fur, leather, grass or leaves were believed to be some of the earliest materials that made up clothes. These materials were tied around the body, draped or wrapped. Archeologists and anthropologists debate on the exact date of the origins of clothing since clothes made from fur, leather, leaves and grass deteriorate rapidly compared to other materials. In Kostensi, Russia, prehistoric sewing needles made of bones and ivory were identified as from 30,000 BC. There was also a discovery of dyed flax fibers in a prehistoric cave in the Republic of Georgia that is believed to be 36,000 years old.

Functions of clothing
The primary function of clothing is the covering of the body as protection against the elements. In cold regions, it is to keep the body warm. In warm regions, clothes serve as protection from sunburn or wind damage. Early humans may have saved the skins of the animals they hunted and used them as clothes to keep warm or gathered leaves and grass to cover their bodies.

The social aspect of the wearing of clothes is another function. Clothing is used to serve as class distinction. In American Indian tribes, their chief or leader wore elaborate headgear. In Ancient Rome, the wearing garments dyed with Syrian Purple were limited to senators.

Another function of clothing is the maintenance of decency. In the Bible, Adam and Eve covered their bodies when they realized that they were naked after eating the fruit from the forbidden tree. In some Islamic countries, women were required to cover the whole of their bodies except the face. In most societies, it is indecent for men and women to mingle with others without wearing clothes. With more relaxed standards in modern times, this function is being undermined as some clothes tend to be provocative that the distinction of decency is becoming blurred.

Another use for clothing is for uniforms for occupations, affiliations, etc. Judges and magistrate wear robes in courts. The members of team sports wear identical jerseys to distinguish themselves from other teams. Even in the military, each unit (army, navy, air force) have their distinct uniforms.

Self-expression is another function of clothes. In general, wearing clothes with the color of black is a sign of mourning. Also, modern times have seen the influence of fashion to pop culture. Elaborate and artistic pieces of clothing for every occasions and moods are almost always available to most.

How To Keep Track Of Gift Certificates

Why you should keep track of gift certificates

If you're a small business and you're giving / selling gift certificates (also called gift vouchers) to your customers, chances are you don't have an integrated gift card solution which can be quite costly.

Hence, if you offer gift vouchers to your customers, you need a way to keep track of them, mainly for fraud and accounting considerations. Let's see why this is necessary:

  • you must prevent customers from fraud by reprinting a gift voucher, hence making your business lose money.
  • if you allow customers to redeem a partial amount of the certificate value, you need to know which amount is still available to redeem.
  • You also need to find out which certificates have been redeemed, if you want to evaluate the performance of your certificate program.
  • you may also be interested in getting more fine-grained knowledge about the gift voucher: when it was sold, which promotion it was part of, etc …

Keeping track of gift certificates using a manual code

In this tracking system, you need every certificate to have a unique, random certificate number. Indeed, to be able to identify a certificate, its serial number needs to be unique. A random number is also important in that it disallows people from reprinting a certificate and using a text formatting program, to change its serial number to make it look like a valid new one. Actually, in order to lessen the possibility of people guessing a valid code, you can also incorporate letters and other special characters in the serial number.

How to generate gift certificate codes

You can either use a random code generator software or generate the codes yourself. In any case, make sure you hold a registry of current certificates in use. You can use Microsoft Excel or any spreadsheet program to keep such a list. You need to make sure that customers cannot see such a list, as you don't want to them to know valid certificate numbers. In this file, you may want to specify certificate serial number, issuing date, certificate value, redeemed amount, and any other information you find valuable to track, such as what promotion the certificate is part of, whether it was sold or given to the customer, etc …

An easier option: generating bar codes for gift vouchers

If you want an easier and more automated way of keeping track of gift vouchers, you could print a bar code on every gift voucher so that it integrates nicely with your Point-Of-Sale software. Contact your point of sale software vendor to see if they can provide such integration.

The Women in Professional Bass Fishing Today – Where Are They?

I had surgery last week and couldn't fish or drive, so I was working on the website and talking to some friends on Facebook while watching some live tournament coverage, and the subject of why we don't see many women fishing in professional bass events came up.

It really made me think because I hadn't paid as much attention to this as I should have.

I decided to contact some old friends in professional bass fishing both male and female and get their thoughts on it, and I think you'll be surprised at what some of them said.

First, in case you weren't aware it, women haven't always been allowed to fish BASS events.

The first woman to compete in a co-ed BASS tournament was Vojai Reed. She fished the 1991 Missouri Invitational and finished 58th! not bad, but it wasn't anything to indicate that women were going to win a lot of Bassmaster Angler of the Year awards or start taking home Bassmaster Classic trophies.

And as of 2018, they haven't!

I had a tackle store, guide service, and a radio show at the very beginning of the internet.

I had been involved in the old Redman Tour where I met a lot of anglers who are fishing at a professional level today, and I had opened Bass Pro shops in Harrisburg, Pa where I did seminars for TTI Blackmore, allowing me to associate with a lot of professionals in bass fishing. I contacted Andre Moore, who had Reaction Innovations and started carrying his baits, and interviewing him on the radio shows.I was at the Classic when he proposed to Kim Bain on stage.

I thought, how perfect is this, a team like that fishing the Classics together, she will go far.

Kim Bain-Moore was the first woman to compete in the Bassmaster Classic. She qualified by winning the 2008 Women's Bassmaster Tour Angler of the Year title. In the Classic, she finished 47th out of 51 anglers. It was her first and last!

Pam Martin-Wells became the second woman to fish the Classic. Like Kim Bain-Moore, she qualified after winning the 2009 WBT AOY award. She finished 22nd out of 51 anglers in the Classic. Pam Martin-Wells is easily the most accomplished female angler in BASS history. Martin-Wells ranks 123rd on the BASS all-time prize money list with $ 308,321.14. Ninety-nine percent of that was earned through the WBT or in her one and only Classic appearance.

After the dissolution of the WBT in 2011 no woman has even come close to qualifying for the championship.

Janet Parker came pretty close to qualifying for the Elites in 2011.

Sabrina Thompson was profiled a while back on a local news station in Texas, she is a Pro Angler and was participating in that weekend's Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Opens.

So why is that a big deal?

She was the first black woman ever to compete in the bass fishing tournament.

She serves as the Vice President of the …

The Adaptation of Fashion Trends

Fashion is more or less synonymous with females. Most women have this undying craving of dressing up according to the on going fashion trends, no matter whether it suits them well or not. Fashion trends which change almost every fortnight, are endearingly followed by the female segment of our society. However, a million dollar question remains unanswered that, where does these "Fashion Trends" exactly start from? Since most ladies pick up the trends by watching their friends and peers, the exact source of the fashion trends gets lost somewhere down the line.

The fashion trends actually start from the runways of London, Paris and New York. It is the ramp of these renowned fashion events that head starts the so called "Latest Fashion Trend" fever throughout the world. Designers persistently keep renovating the fashion styles and come up with varied designs every now and then and so does the trends in fashion markets too.

Since most of the people are unable to buy the exuberantly expensive brands showcased on the ramps, people tend to pick the reasonably priced imitations of the same. Most departmental stores copy the runway dress designs which are later sold like hot cakes in the market.

Its not just the runway shows which influence the public in general, but the celebrities too, who are considered as the style icons by youth. Youngsters imitate their favorite stars and try to dress like them in order to prove themselves fashionable enough among their friend circle. On one hand where the younger lot follow the dressing sense of celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Jamie Lynn Spears, the older lot on the other, dress as per the various popular television shows like Desperate Housewives.

There is nothing wrong in following the latest trends or styles but the trick is to copy the trends sensibly. The most important thing to remember while dressing is to maintain your own individuality within the fashionable drapes. One is not suppose to look like a carbon cut out of a runway model but the thing is to express the same style through your own self and as they say when you will be comfortable within your own skin you would indeed be making the biggest fashion statement around.

The Versatile Ranch Style House

Over the years I've designed and drawn many different styles of homes for clients. I've had the honor of making plans for stately Colonial Manors, Cottages, Modern Contemporary, Federal Style, Mediterranean, etc., but the most versatile of all these layouts is the American Ranch Style home.

Conceived in the US in the 1920s, and patterned after the Midwestern homes use by ranchers and farmers in the late 19th and early 20th century. Hence the name: "Rancher". The Rancher was also known as the "Tract House" because this was the style of choice for developers creating large sub divisions. Thousands of these homes were built in subdivisions across the nation. If you've ever watched the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" starring Jimmy Stewart at Christmas time, about 45 minutes into the move you'll see a whole bunch of these Ranch styles in the back ground.

Simpler because of its single story design, the Ranch House can be made into a large rectangle with a long central hallway. But the house can also be built in a "T" or "C" shaped configuration, a "L", and even an "E" or even a double "E" layout. This gives this design an ability to adapt to the needs of the family living in it and fit the terrain, no matter what the topography of the lot it's built on.

The foundations or basements are also a simple matter for these homes. That's because we have the simple rectangular design. With a rectangular layout, there's always an easy way to support the floor system with all the piers or post evenly spaced.

Roofs on this style also can vary in shape. The most common roof for the main rectangle of the home is the simple gable, hip, half hip, or even a flat roof. But if the other appendages are added, you can have multiple roofs in whatever direction the homes extensions happen to go. I've seen some built with angled appendages at 30 to 45 degrees.

But the design even lends itself to more class by adding a steep roof pitch that another ½ story can be added to the house making it a story and a half. From that steep roof, dormers can be placed to add even more beauty to the home. One of the prettiest Ranchers I've ever seen had this steep roof configuration with a large center dormer and smaller dormers on each side of the large one. It was also decorated out with many of the classic brick work, columns, and trims of the colonial homes. It was a sight to behold and the owner was very proud.
